Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan says season 5 "feels like an amazing sendoff... but not the end of a series." Fans of Star Trek's first animated half-hour comedy were crushed when Paramount+ announced Lower Decks season 5 would be the final season. McMahan hinted that this was a possibility while promoting Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4 last year, and the upcoming end of the voyages of the USS Cerritos is a sad affair. But also a happy one, as there are still 10 more episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks to come in fall 2024.
