Twisters has bested the original movie on Rotten Tomatoes. The 1996 disaster movie Twister, which starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, was a smash hit, becoming the second highest-grossing movie of the year worldwide behind Roland Emmerich's competing alien invasion disaster movie Independence Day. The upcoming Twisters is a standalone sequel to the original hit, centering a new trio of performers, namely Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos, though the cast also includes Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, David Corenswet, Kiernan Shipka, and Paul Scheer.
