Each season of Star Trek: Voyager revealed more about Seven of Nine's history before Captain Kathryn Janeway's (Kate Mulgrew) USS Voyager crew liberated Seven from the Borg Collective. Previously, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) could only be severed from the Collective because he'd been Locutus for mere days, but Seven of Nine had spent most of her life as a Borg drone.
