Before becoming Captain America at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson was a supporting character as Falcon for most of his MCU career. He debuted in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, one of the MCU's most highly-regarded movies, before becoming an Avenger and eventually taking on the Captain America mantle at the behest of the original, Steve Rogers.
