Abrams hit 2009 franchise reboot, Star Trek Into Darkness introduced the classic Star Trek villain Khan and won over critics and audiences with stunning visuals and impressive action. The movie led into a third film, Star Trek Beyond, which brought in a new director in Justin Lin but maintained the winning formula that Abrams had established with the first two movies.
