Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released five years ago, and yet, Reys chosen surname remains controversial why? Though the Star Wars sequel trilogy originally played with the idea that Rey was a nobody in the grand scheme of the galaxy and the Skywalker saga, at least it eventually settled on a family lineage for her. The reveal that Rey was a pseudo-Palpatine was arguably one of the most shocking narrative decisions of the sequel trilogy (and as we all know, there were quite a few), changing everything we thought we knew about Palpatines master plan and Reys connection with the Force.
