The Lord of the Rings is full of evil people and evil places, but there may be no place as evil as Angband, Morgoth's Hells of Iron. Angband was one of The Lord of the Rings' most impressive fortresses, but it didn't last past the First Age. In fact, many of Lord of the Rings' toughest strongholds existed only in the First Age. This unique era of myths and legends has seldom been adapted for the screen, as no one currently owns the rights to those specific J.R.R. Tolkien texts.
